People think muses are mythological characters. Artists know better! For years my muses have primarily been dogs. There have been a few cats and women, but dogs seem to be the most inspiring. Duncan, MacDuff and Macky, my Scotties, inspired my strip Raising Duncan. Our Chihuahua Mabel has inspired much of my work for Sarasota Magazine. And then there is our new Chi, Paikea, 5 pounds, most of it bark and pride.
If you are an artist and have a stable homelife you might want to consider bringing a small dog home from your local shelter. Your next best friend may be waiting for you downtown, praying that you will show up!
