Empty Glass Bottle

This was fun to paint and took less than an hour as opposed to my Black Book painting that took a week.

both are very nice. i studied illustration at sva in nyc and now work for disney in la. the older i get, i realize more and more there has always been too much emphasis on getting the work done quickly.

obviously for the business you have to turn the work out quickly but, what i'm finally waking up to is it doesn't have to effect my personal work. duh!

recently travelled to chad's ford PA to visit the brandywine river museum and was left feeling so envious of andrew wyeth's luxurious pace. 6 months to 8 months on a tempera? magnificent.

these studies you are doing are wonderful: the cookies, the bottle, the address book. to me there is a peaceful quality to them. and i think part of that comes from, not just the color or composition but, your evident study. the sense of time and quiet concentration is what i'm connecting to.
